Trident Seafoods Old yard is hopping in February and March in the WA Ship Canal just west of Western Towboats, saddled in there nearby is Silver Bay Seafoods Tenders. F/V Bulldog just got a new sharp paint job, she want from black haul with a red name for letters to a Trident blue haul with white letters. Bulldog is looking good, just off the stern of F/V Farwest Leader, whose paint job could use a little TLC especially since she’s stern to bow off the Bulldog, stark fresh paint contrast.
F/V Last Frontier 118 ft. and F/V Entrance Point 107 ft, Trident Seafoods tenders boat make their way over for a Ballard Bridge lift from Trident’s Old Yard to settle up stern in over at Fishermen’s Terminal. The boat shuffle is underway as these tenders gear up for the up and coming 2018 summer Alaska Salmon Tender fishing season.
F/V Husky 125 ft, gets a tag team tug boat assist by Western Towboat and Fremont lil tug, she did the swap from Fishermen’s Terminal to Trident Seafoods Old Yard just east of the Ballard Bridge, lots of bridge lifts and winter tender traffic. Salty Dog Lab Lookout gives a shout out as Western Towboat flips the Husky around to settle up in the WA Ship Canal to head eastbound.
F/V Farwest Leader, 110 ft. she’s usually up crabbing in Alaska’s Bering Sea. Trident Seafood crab boats spend most of their fishing time in the Bering Sea chasing and fishing for King crab, Opilio -Snow crab, and Bairdi Tanner crab. These fisheries run in late fall through the winter months and some might run into the early spring. In addition to crab, vessels also harvest Pacific cod and Sablefish – Blackcod, in the Bering Sea using pot gear. During the summer months the vessels stay busy tendering salmon in Bristol Bay and Southeast Alaska, these means lots of time on the hook, taking fish from either gillnetters of seiners.

Chuck Bundrant owner of Trident Seafoods built Trident Seafoods empire that we know today…. boat, by boat from the start – adding to his fishing fleet. Bundrant and Trident Seafoods Fishery have come a long way since the 1970’s; Bundrant build of his first boat the F/V Billikin, 135 ft. The Billikin was the trend setter, massive vessel of its time…. for what the future of seafood fisheries had to come on the horizon. F/V Billikin, was the first vessel to feature crab cookers and freezing equipment onboard, this enabled their fresh catch to be processed underway from sea to deck, this changed the game from off loading back at the beach on shore – to at sea processing increasing productivity, quality and seafood product freshness. Chuck Bundrant is a modern day commercial fishing ledge in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, his empire is now a multi-million dollar thriving commercial fishing business. Chuck Bundrant still gets around Ballard and the docks and out on his boat the M/V Annandale up on Southeast Alaska. God Bless our fishermen & their families on land and at sea.
