The 37th Annual St. Petersburg Power & Sailboat Show, the largest boat show on the Gulf Coast, is set to sail into the Progress Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater Yacht Basin and Albert Whitted Park in St. Petersburg, FL from Thursday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014! The St. Petersburg Power & Sailboat Show offers four fun-filled days for boaters and marine enthusiasts of all ages. This year’s show is bigger than ever before with expanded in-water displays featuring nearly 300 exhibitors and hundreds of boats displayed both in-water and on land, an extensive schedule of educational marine seminars from Sail America, kids fishing clinics presented by the non-profit Hook The Future, refreshments and live musical entertainment along an expansive waterfront area.
The show will feature an impressive selection of power boats and sailboats in water and on land, including a 40,000-square-foot clearspan tent housing all types of marine gear. Show-goers will find hundreds of power boats and sailboats including family cruisers, runabouts, fishing boats, magnificent sailing yachts, personal watercraft and much more. There is bound to be something here that catches your eye. But if you want to expand your horizons further and see what other boats are on offer to buy, then looking at something like these GraysOnline Power Boats could help you to make that final decision when it comes to landing your dream boat and exploring the high seas. In addition to the large selection of exhibits at this year’s show, there will be an array of special events and fun and educational activities.
Nothing beats hands on experience when it comes to learning new skills and improving one’s sailing abilities. This year, Discover Sailing will create a selection of on water, hands on learning events that will add more fun and excitement to your Boat Show experience and take your sailing skills up a notch at the same time. All learning events provide hands on practice with an certified instructor and are taught while underway aboard 30′ to 40′ sailboats.
For show goers seeking a little less action, Discover Sailing will once again provide a FREE 45 minute sail on the Bay with an experienced Skipper. It’s been a staple of Boat Shows across the country and is a great way to get out on the water and experience the joy of sailing. This event is FREE with paid boat show admission and is conducted daily during the show. Those wishing to participate may register onsite at the Discover Sailing Center. The Kids’ Fishing Clinics, presented by Hook the Future, are open to all kids ages 4-16 and feature marine life experts teaching kids basic fishing techniques. Kids will go through different entertaining and educational stations hosted by Captain Don Dingman. At the end there will be drawings for great prizes.
For the 13th year in a row, The Cruisers’ Party hosted by Bob & Jody Bitchin of Cruising Outpost will take place at the St. Petersburg Power and Sail Show. This was where the famous Cruisers’ Parties started, and they have spread all over the US and as far away as Australia, The Virgin Islands and Tahiti… but the original is right here in St.Petersburg. It starts at the close of show Saturday night, December 6th, at 7PM and will take place on the “Party Dock” right inside the show-grounds. There will be drawing, with the grand prize being a Spectra watermaker from the folks at Peterson marine and Spectra. There will be dozens of other prizes from merchants at the show, as well as from the other sponsors, Boat Show Management, Coppercoat, Harken, Kanberra, South West International Boat Show, Mack Sails, and Murray Yacht Sales.
