Just Another Day at Westport Shipyard
Westport Shipyards has been acquired after 50 years of service to the Pacific Northwest. Westport Shipyard was founded in 1964 as a builder of vessels for the North Pacific commercial fishing fleet, then added fast passenger ferries to its repertoire. Ultimately, Westport built and delivered more than 200 commercial vessels, instilling in the company a deep respect for the sea and a passion for achieving the level of quality that ocean travel demands. Even under new ownership, Westport’s directive remains the same: beautiful boats that are designed, engineered, and hand built in America.
Westport W112
The Westport W112 starts off the Westport model line, and while it may be smaller, it still packs a big bang. It features crisp, contemporary styling balanced with timeless traditional features that harmonize a vessel of extraordinary performance, built to uncompromising standards of structural integrity and quality. The Westport W112’s wide 23′ 9″ (7.2m) beam creates a dramatically open and spacious salon, further enhanced by expanses of view windows. An elegant dining area allows formal meal service for eight, plus spacious staterooms to accommodate owners and guests. Finally, it also provides an exceptional design layout for onboard operations and staff services.
Westport W125
The Westport W125 offers a compliment to the Westport 130, which is obvious when one takes a look at the profile: the 125 is a two-deck yacht. It’s also a bit of a stepping stone for Westport 112 owners that aren’t quite ready for a trideck. Featuring a blend of the features in the 112 and the 130, it combines luxury with affordability for a unique boating experience. With its raised-pilothouse design, the Westport 125 allows for a feature a lot of the many Westort customers like: a big country kitchen. Outside, there’s a welcome foredeck seating area, a hot tub on the upper deck, and a hardtop-shaded seating area and additional helm. It’s perfect for a crew of 6-8, with options available for choosing your ideal stateroom layout.
Westport W130
The Westport W130 was first introduced to the world at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in 2001. Since its inception, the W130 has provided dependable worldwide service, unsurpassed comfort and function in a tasteful/timeless design. A 40m tri-deck layout continues the 130 tradition with exceptional luxury, convenience, reliability and performance that is the Westport standard. ABS-classed and MCA-compliant, the 40m is equally well suited for private use or charter service.
Westport W164
The Westport W164 is the ultimate in luxury, and unquestionably the big dog of the Westport yard. Developed using cutting-edge three-dimensional modeling and structural software applications also used by the aviation industry, this yacht has met every objective for speed, ride, maneuverability, integrity, quality and classing capability. As with every Westport yacht, the 164 delivers the uncommon luxuries of predictable performance, on-time delivery and a full complement of equipment and features for immediate enjoyment. Its unique & innovative arrangement includes a top-deck VIP suite with its own sun deck, a large formal dining room adjacent to the commercial-grade galley, and a garage aft for tenders and water toys. The Westport 164 was designed for entertaining and relaxed socializing, with its salon opening to a large covered aft deck with lounge, conversation areas and wet bar.
Westport’s new majority shareholder is a company called Westport LLC. The latter includes the Chouest family, with a boating and shipbuilding background. Edison Chouest used his shrimp boat to service offshore oil rigs more than 50 years ago. That became Edison Chouest Boat Rental. It grew to become what’s now the Edison Chouest Offshore group of companies. It has shipyards in the USA and Brazil that build vessels for the offshore gas and oil industry. Edison Chouest Offshore further owns American Custom Yachts in Stuart, Florida. American Custom Yachts targets sportfishing enthusiasts.
