Snow storms make waves blanketing the majority of the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest. On the water in the maritime world of fishing processors, trawlers, draggers and work boats no storm will stop them – from their per usual January jog uphill back to the Bering Sea to go fishing another winter season. Many blessings to all fishermen/fisherwomen and fisheries this fine winter.

Golden Alaska, 305 ft. Processor departed on their per usual mid. January jog uphill, back to the Bering Sea. Western Towboat, Tug Wasp was their push assist to the Ballard Locks for a drop into Shilshole Bay, cruising in Puget Sound waters back up to Alaska where the Golden Alaska spends the majority of her year, offshore catching fish.

Snow Days for shipyards on the Pacific Northwest are business as usual. Pacific Fishermen Shipyard, usually has boats departing in early January to get back on there Alaskan fishing grounds. There is some action, builds and new welding jobs going on – brought on by big ideas and broad plans to improve performance and fishing. Come spring and summer their all back in AK waters either fishing or tendering.

Snow day for those on land in the Pacific Northwest has been led by school delays and closures. Washington is a vast state, if you drive 30 minutes in different direction you may get an inch of snow up to a foot of snow – depending on your direction, mountains, rivers, water ways, sounds and more. To all on land and at sea – Plan ahead, use more common sense than your standard and be safe out there this winter.
