F/V Northwestern, Deadliest Catch Boat Coming to you from Salty Dog Headquarters on a Sunny Fun Friday!  The Pacific NW is home to bucket loads of Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers!

Before 2005 old fishing regulations forced fishermen to race against the clock, these days in modern times – catch shares have literally saved fishermen’s lives.  Catching crab in Alaska’s Bering Sea is one of the deadliest jobs in the world. Crabbing is a metal game as much more than a physical mind ‘………’.

The TV show Deadliest Catch is now about to enter its 11th consecutive season on Discovery Channel.  For those of us who have spent many a season in Bristol Bay, Naknek,  throughout the Nushagak and down in god forsaken Akutan (AKA: Crap-utan!) – its odd to some of us – this phenomenon of the watching guys fish in Alaska.

Years backs shortly after Deadliest Catch came out on TV -at a Yachtie Boat Show,  I ran into Captain Phil Harris on the F/V Cornelia Marie, at that time his boys were still in highschool.  I said to Phil, “What he hell are you doing here signing autographs…..?” Phil said, ‘Well what the are doing here in the yacht world?”  Well at that time I had gone from commercial to white boat superyacht world…. we laughed and joked it was good to see him off the boat on land.  On February 9, 2015 – that made for 5 years since Phil passed away.  His memory and legend ways live on….. Way to Josh on getting the boat and making your dad proud at SEA!

Every crab boat we see is a ‘business’ – most are a well oiled machine, well at least as long as they don’t have to many ding-dong greenhorns that put kinks in the chain!  Pat Dwyer of F/V Jennifer A. and F/V Brenna A. still lives on in memory as son Sean is the head cheese running both boats!  Way to go Sean – you’re doing it – your making – one hell of an excellent fishermen in your early 20’s!  Freaking impressive – Alaska Bering Sea Crabber!  – Bought to your by:  Salty Dog Floating Headquarters, Naknek Sea Gal & Super Painter – just go see South Side down the hill from the Pit & you’ll get it!
