Nordhavn Yachts Sales, NW – Barbara Lippert
Nordhavn Yacht Sales in the Pacific Northwest has lost an amazing friend & innovator. Nordhavn Yacht broker – Barbara A. Lippert; a PNW marine icon, passed away February 12, 2015, from complications of lung cancer. Most of us who know Barbara would say describer her as a ‘firecracker & fun colleague in our NW marine industry!’
Barbara was born on July 25, 1945 in Steubenville, Ohio, and moved to Seattle in 1985. Soon, she became a well-known figure in Seattle’s boating world. She was a pioneer before her time with her involvement with BoatScope, which used interactive television for boat advertising. She went on as a leasing agent and then yacht broker with Elliott Bay Yachting Center. She served as president of the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association, as a Board Member, served on their Ethics Committee and helped establish the Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) national program in the Northwest, that certified qualified yacht sales professionals who meet the industry’s highest standards. Barbara worked for Nordhavn Yachts for the past six years and was proud to be their first woman sales representative.
Barbara Was a Pioneer in Yacht Brokerage
Barbara Lippert was an extraordinary personality in the Pacific Northwest marine industry! Besides being one of the women pioneers in the brokerage segment, she was a knowledgeable and very personable entity. She opened doors for people when others would not give them the time of day. She made sure to include (and not exclude) one from being involved in the PNW Yachting industry if they had a passion and were willing. Before moving to Seattle, Barbara lived in Hermosa Beach California where she worked for Western Airlines and was the international representative of Products International, a Los Angeles importing firm. In Lake Tahoe she was a partner in Courtside Catering.
Barbara Was Always Inclusive
Barbara will be remembered for her dry sense of humor as well as a true friend, gourmet cook, caterer deluxe, a champion of homeless animals and always ready and willing to lend a hand. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society, Fred Hutch Bone Marrow Transplant organization or Kitty Harbor, a Seattle shelter and adoption facility for homeless cats and kittens.
Rest in Peace, Barbara! Your passion and dedication will be missed.
