lls-set-sail-graphicSet Sail to Save Lives!

The Leukemia Cup Regatta 2015, a nationwide series of races, will be coming to the Pacific Northwest this summer by way of the Elliott Bay Marina. A yearly event dedicated to raising money for cancer research put on by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, it asks a simple question: why do you boat? Is it the relaxing? The family time? Escaping routine? The Leukemia Cup is about all of those things, but also challenges boaters to take up the greater, selfless cause of helping to find a cure for cancer- helping people relax and be free from the suffering it causes, much as you may enjoy similar benefits simply by getting out there on the water.

You’re already aware that boating makes you feel good, so what if you could instill that feeling into the lives of Leukemia patients? The Leukemia Cup aims to make a lifelong impact on those battling Leukemia through raising money to fund research to help eliminate suffering and eradicate cancer, and since its inception, the Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised millions of dollars for lifesaving research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families. The Elliott Bay Marina will host the 2015 Leukemia Cup on June 6th, and from the shores of Magnolia the regatta fleet will set sail to save lives on the Puget Sound.

The event has never changed its mission or directive, and this year some improvements & revisions have been made to the event. New for this year’s Leukemia Cup is a pirate theme- so grab your mates, grab some rum, and dress like your favorite swashbuckler. A costume contest with fabulous treasure prizes will be held, so be sure to suit up for your chance to win big booty.

Also new for this year, teams and individuals will compete in fundraising leading up to the event for a coveted spot in our VIP Section on event day – complete with VIP Leukemia Cup Regatta swag, a private bar, and catered food for the top fundraising teams and individuals. Additionally, you can earn prizes for having crew sign up! There are many ways teams can raise money (for more ideas, go now to the GoFundMe website) but this is certainly a fantastic one. You must be registered by day of the show to qualify.
