Boats Afloat Show moves from Seattle South Lake Union to the new 2020 location at the Port of Everett, WA. In September 2020 Boats Afloat Show will be hosted in Everett. In 2019 Boats Afloat will be hosted on South Lake Union as it has been for nearly 40 years. NYBA, Northwest Yacht Brokers Association leads the Boats Afloat show; due to a number of development land and lake changes in the pipeline to come, it was time for the Boats Afloat Show to pick up what’s been laid down before them and make a change; the change is Everett.
NYBA Director received a letter from Vulcan, the South Lake Union Chandler’s Cover property owners; the letter stated, “Given the restrictions and complexities of waterfront development, we still do not have a definitive timeline fro the redevelopment and renovation effort; we re committed to maintaining a vibrant waterfront amenity for the city of Seattle and out target plans currently incorporate existing uses on the site, including office and slip space for yacht brokerage firms.”
Boats Afloat Show has full confidence that show numbers will be back up, despite the Everett location change for 2020. In Sept. 2018 it was reported that their was 7,000 in show attendees, 200 boats and yachts, and the VIP day for the industry brought in over 1,000 high end visitors to the show docks and crawling around on yachts. The Port of Everett will be getting a $6.5 million development investment, this will be a very good looking marina and port shave and a haircut; great new for Everett.
