Washington State Department of Commerce:  Joshua Berger

Joshua Berger is the governor’s office, legislature and state agencies, he is the sector leader and focuses on economic development, building public/private partnerships, and ensuring a modern and safe 21st century workforce. Berger is currently leading Washington Maritime BLUE, the governor’s strategic vision for a sustainable, decarbonized maritime industry alongside the development of a Maritime Innovation Center. Prior Berger served as director of the Washington Maritime Federation and brings extensive maritime industry experience to his position. While at which he earned a master’s degree from Antioch University Seattle in participatory planning; he’s also a professional merchant mariner that has worked in the towing industry and spent six years as captain of the historic schooner Adventuress. His seasoned track record in the maritime industry speaks for itself.

Rolls-Royce Marine: Runar Hjelle

Everyone like the sound of Rolls-Royce: Runar Hjelle is the current general sales manager for Rolls-Royce Marine, Offshore Deck Machinery. His official responsibility is deck machinery equipment for anchor handlers, tugs and fishing vessels in North and South America. Hjelle came to Rolls-Royce as a controls and power electronics engineer in 2002 after sailing as a chief electrician on submarines in the Norwegian Navy. Since joining the sales team in Brattvaag in 2011, he’s had a lazer focused interests in improving safety, increasing efficiency, and implementing environmentally friendly technology in deck machinery operations.
