The World Superyacht Awards – The Oscars of the Superyacht World
The World Superyacht Awards celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2015! This event always combines a glittering prize ceremony with a gala dinner and dance. Often called the Academy Awards of the superyacht world, the awards were attended by an elite guest list of superyacht owners from around the world and the most influential players in the superyacht industry.
This year, the World Superyacht Awards returned to Amsterdam, the Netherlands on May 9th for a glamorous evening spent rewarding the best superyachts of the past year in a total of 18 categories. Judged by a panel predominantly consisting of owners, here are
some of the winning highlights:
M/Y Grace E – 73 Meter Superyacht
Motor Yacht of the Year: M/Y Grace E – At a stunning 73 meters in length, M/Y Grace E was built by Perini Navi at their Picchiotti shipyard, and was launched from their facilities in Viareggio on September of 2013. Philippe Briand’s brand of naval architecture combined with the experience of Vitruvius is featured on the M/Y Grace E, and the interior was handled by Rémi Tessier Design.
M/Y WinWin – 33 Meter Sailing Yacht
Sailing Yacht of the Year: M/Y WinWin – Finnish shipyard Baltic Yachts built this beauty, a 33.04 meter sloop. M/Y WinWin launched in May 2014, featuring naval architecture and exterior design by Javier Jaudenes of Surge Projects, plus Design Unlimited taking care of the interior design. There is an amazingly spacious full-beam master suite, with en-suite shower room, a study as well as owners’ lounge, fitted with desk, three sided settee and ample storage. The aft section of the vessel features two twin guest cabins, each with en-suite. There is also a fully-equipped galley, crew mess with navigation station, and two Pullman cabins, offering high-quality accommodation for up to four professional crew.
M/Y Kismet – 95 Meter Superyacht
Displacement Motor Yacht of 1,300GT to 2,999GT of 75m and Above: M/Y Kismet – The Germans of shipyard Lürssen Yachts built this monster beauty of a superyacht, completing it in 2014. The 95.20 meter M/Y Kismet’s exterior design comes courtesy of Espen Oeino International. Interior design was by Reymond Langton Design of the UK. The external deck facilities include an open fire place, external lounging and eating areas on three different decks including one with a fully equipped BBQ, an oval shaped swimming pool with integrated hot tub on the sun deck and a very private observation deck overlooking it all.
M/Y Grace E – 73 Meters of Pure Beauty
Displacement Motor Yacht of 1,300GT to 2,999GT of Below 75m: M/Y Grace E – This 73 meter elegant beauty took home her second award of the night in her class of yacht, and it’s no wonder why. M/Y Grace E’s interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 7 staterooms, 4 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 20 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout her living areas to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.
M/Y MySky – 51 Meter Superyacht
Displacement Motor Yacht of 500GT to 1,299GT: M/Y MySky – The 51.10 meter M/Y MySky was built by Heesen Yachts and launches from their facilities in Oss, the Netherlands, in May 2014. MySky features a full displacement aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Van Oossanen were responsible for her naval architecture in cooperation with Heesen, with Omega Architects undertaking her exterior styling and Erick van Egeraat working on her interior design.
M/Y Elena – 47 Meter Superyacht
Displacement Motor Yacht of Below 500GT of 44m and Above: M/Y Elena – Delivered to her owners in summer 2014, the 47 meter superyacht M/Y Elena was built by Heesen Yachts and was designed in her entirety by Heesen Yachts, who collaborated with Omega Architects on both her interior and exterior design. The hull of the vessel is a paragon of efficiency, with a bulbous bow and sleek lines, resulting in a yacht that requires the least amount of power to reach a particular speed. Externally, luxury yacht M/Y Elena provides an impressive 85 square meter sun deck. An elegantly curvaceous terrace includes a Spa Pool pool surrounded by Summit sunbeds, a shaded teak dining table for 12 guests, a bar and a semi-circular sweep of sofas.
M/Y Polaris – 48 Meter Superyacht
Semi-displacement or Planing Three-deck Motor Yacht of Above 40m: M/Y Polaris – Built by Rossi Navi and launched in March 2014, the 48.29 meter superyacht Polaris features naval architecture by Arrabito Naval Architects. Team 4 Design were responsible for both her interior and exterior design. A total number of 12 guests can find utmost in luxury aboard the 49m superyacht M/Y Polaris. She also carries a professional crew of 11 members. All-aluminium luxury yacht M/Y Polaris can reach a top speed of 23 knots, thanks to her twin MTU 12V 4000 M93 L diesel engines.
M/Y Ancallia – 45 Meter Rebuilt Superyacht
Rebuilt Yacht: M/Y Ancallia – M/Y Ancallia was originally completed by Feadship in 1984, with naval architecture and exterior design by De Voogt Naval Architects. The 45.77 meter vessel was rebuilt at Atlas Shipyard. Totally rebuilt from the hull up, Superyacht ANCALLIA now takes up her position amongst the world’s most beautiful mega yachts. Much care was taken during her refit and she now provides fixtures and fittings to the very highest of quality.
