Ballard Seafood Fest 2014!  Deadliest Catch Boats – F/V Northwestern and F/V Wizard call Ballard their home port. Ballard has a reputation for being very Scandinavian, and being Scandinavian usually means fish and lots of them.  It should be no surprise that Ballard is the home of Seafood Fest, a yearly celebration of fish, wild seafood,  fun, family, community, and of course… fresh wild delicious seafood from Alaska to the Pacific Northwest.

The Ballard Seafood Fest started as a short BBQ event with around 10 booths- a very far cry from today’s racous Seafood Fests. It’s two whole days packed with hundreds of booths, more delicious seafood than even the biggest appetites could ever possibly eat, scads of live bands and musicians, and more good times per capita than is legal in some states.

So how do you like YOUR Salmon? If you were Julia Child, you’d poach it with a bunch of butter and white wine vinegar.  If you were Bobby Flay, you’d grill it with a brown sugar mustard glaze.  And who wouldn’t want to assume the identity of Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa? If you were she, you’d bake it with panko, vermouth and horseradish then cover it with a Lemon Dill Butter Sauce.  But, as we mentioned earlier, things are a bit different in Ballard and that simply begs the question, WDBD or “What does Ballard do?”

Ballard sizzles it over an alder fire ‘til it’s a steaming, succulent slice of the best Omega 3’s you will ever slide down your gullet. And they’ve been doing it the same way for 39 years!   Each year, over a ton of salmon is served–think about it, that’s 39 tons of salmon.  Can you even imagine that much fish?”

If you’re the type that won’t believe it til you see it, rest assured that you’ll see a ton of it at SeafoodFest.
