Dates for the 36th annual South Lake Union Seattle Boats Afloat show have been announced! This year’s show runs from September 10-14, 2014, and features rows, rows, rows of boats. From sport boats to sailboats, trawlers to mega yachts, the Boats Afloat Show is the best place to find the boat of your dreams. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or just getting your feet wet, climb aboard, toss out some line and be sure to check out all the variety that the Lake Union Show has to offer this year.
This annual show features 200+ new and used boats or vessels from 20 to 90 feet, and is recognized as the West Coast’s largest floating boat show. It’s not just boats, however- the show features tons of maritime exhibitors you’ll want to visit, seminars that leave you a smarter boater than you were before, and great times with friends and colleagues both personal and professional.
The show is for the whole family, not just for Moms & Dads to look for a beautiful new boat. The show is full of free activities for kids of all ages, young and old. Previous year’s events have included 60-minute free sailboat lessons that come courtesy of Sail Sandpoint, allowing kids 8-16 to experience the thrill of getting on the water. Young and old alike enjoyed the Center for Wooden Boats’ toy boat workshop for all ages, and came away with a great new keepsake.
Last year’s attractions included the boat that was the largest in the show- a 90 foot Ocean Alexander megayacht from 2011 valued at $5.6 million. It was described by Power & Motoryacht magazine as “the kind of boat any owner would be proud to own—graceful and sleek on the outside, spacious and elegant on the inside, she’s really got it all. There’s not much else you could ask for.” This year should feature similar attractions- and possibly your brand new boat!
