Salty Dog Boating News, AK Pollock C/P Marine Traffic Canal Winter Update: Alaska Pollock vessel C/P Starbound 240 ft. gets an early January Tugboat assist by Tug Wasp of Western Towboat in the busy winter ship canal. Aleutian Spray Fisheries (ASF) C/P Starbound is in their fleet of at sea processors, they also have in the fleet mobile armada of freezer-longliners and combination fishing vessels. ASF has carefully processed  fresh seafood product that is quickly frozen or stored in refrigerated seawater, Aleutian Spray Fisheries products are enjoyed by consumers worldwide. The New Year each year in early January is a Catcher Processor and Factory Trawler highway along the Seattle Ship Canal. Local tugboat companies such as Western Towboat are among the best who assist the east and westbound marine traffic of the canal with coordinated bridge lifts and Ballard Locks drops and lifts from seawater to our canals fresh water.

Aleutian Spray Fisheries seafood products are smart environmental choices for seafood consumers. The Alaska Pollock Fishery is certified as sustainable by the London based Marine Stewardship Council. Aleutian Spray Fisheries works in conjunction with Global Seas LLC bases in the PNW. Global Seas performs worldwide oceanographic and atmospheric research as well as shallow water chart surveys. The Mt. Mitchell is a 231 ft vessel, with a homeport close to the Ballard Locks; she’s customized with the latest in electronics, machinery and safety equipment. A 55 ft catamaran, R/V Sealth, is designed to specialize in chart surveying. Seattle is known for our active sustainable seafood communities and fisheries working next to and hand in hand with research vessels of locally based Pacific Northwest companies.

Aleutian Spray Fisheries was established in 1969 and is family owned and operated by Henry Swasand, with the acquisition of the crab vessel Aleutian Spray. As the company grew family members began to join in. This third generation of Swasands is active in the management, growth and proactive fishing of Aleutian Spray Fisheries. Their fishing fleet includes a variety of vessels.
