Deadliest Catch Season 12 Has Kicked Off: It’s still amazing to those of us in the Maritime Industry how successful this show has become in the last 12 years, who knew fans would or could enjoy watching a bunch of tired, smelly guys on deck at sea would attract such a fan following.
Deadliest Catch Boats and AK Bering Sea Crab Crews are salt and peppered around Ballard and the greater Pacific Northwest. F/V Northwestern hit the Ballard locks late this afternoon, of such a good feeling getting the Ballard Lock lift into our amazing Seattle Ship Canal. Next the Northwestern came in hot to the ship canal rounding just before the Ballard Bridge into Fishermen’s Terminal for a lightning speed offload. Ooooo crabber crane driving skills, run for your life it what I always said when we had to tie next to them up in Bristol Bay to on or offload gear of god knows what.
Northwestern has pots off, deck clear zipped out of Fishermen’s Terminal then back down the canal to put the boat to bed in her home shipyard port, just in time for a PNW sunset and time to jump off the boat to have dinner with family & friends. It’s hard to imagine Deadliest Catch is in season 12. Shocking to most of us who grew up fishing in AK, fans want to watch dirty, smelly, wet, tired, pain driven crew work on deck. Although, Deadliest Catch producers have given viewers/fans the inside scoop of dating or being married to a fishermen, what its like for children to see their fathers less than 6 months a year and so on… it’s a crazy world living and working on the sea. It gets in your blood, by end of each season ya can’t wait to get off the boat, then before you know it while at home you start to miss the boat and freaking wild days at sea where you never know what’s up next according to mother nature or the fishing/crab gods – what they have in store!
