Deadliest Catch, F/V Time Bandit, Captain Johnathan Hillstrand retires, his last crab season is 2017, no more Alaska Bering Sea crab fishing from the wheelhouse for the excited and fired up Captain Jonathan. Deadliest Catch, gives Captain Jonathan a huge salute and farewell for his finale season of Deadliest Catch, Season 13. Jonathan has been saying he’s going to retire for the past few years, this time it looks like retirement is actually happening, he will retire from crab fishing in Alaska’s Bering Sea and the Discovery Channel show. Deadliest Catch Season 14, appears to carry on without the F/V Time Bandit; God Bless the boat, the crew and their families at sea and on land.
Captain Johnathan Hillstrand and crew are especially known for their creative pranks on other boats in the fleet while at sea fishing. The Hillstrand family has made the most of some really great business opportunities; a lot of which notoriety is thanks to being on the TV Show Deadliest Catch since the second season. Hillstand businesses include, Time Bandit Fireworks, (These guys love to blow stuff up!) Time Bandit Spirits, Time Bandit Entertainment, Time Bandit Productions and the Time Bandit Gear Store.
Captain Johnathan made his big plans known for the end of his final season with high numbers and full tanks, of course this goal is a per usual for Bering Sea Crabbers – all salty seasoned captains have it in their DNA to leave in a blaze of glory. It’s a blessing to survive each season and return home to their loved ones on land at their home port. Skipper Johnathan Hillstrand planed out his last days at sea and retirement from fishing – over 37 years the entire fishing fleet gets spooked – in Johnathan’s last season the crab boat F/V Destination goes missing at sea, then days later the USCG calls of the search as these fishermen the boat are lost at sea, 250 ft. down at the bottom.
F/V Destination, 6 man crew when missing the morning of February 11, 2017, the statement by fellow crabbers – ‘the fleet is spooked’ – this is a massive understatement. On some Bering Sea fishing boats the disappearance of F/V Destination had some captains and crew calling it ‘game over’ and some did in fact go home, they headed for the next flight out.
Time Bandit, Captain Johnathan has been direct and to the point about his time in the Bering Sea for 37 plus years, ‘pain and suffering’ are some common words he uses to describe his commercial fishing career. Clearly this Hillstand is strong as git and nails – and can be full of piss and vinagar. As the crab grounds move, regulations change and storms get worse battling through each season; it’s no freaking wonder Jonathan is ready to make the most of other opportunities and spend more time and holidays with his family.
