Josh Harris, F/V Cornelia Marie releases statements about not appearing on the Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch Season 13. The boat was formerly run by Captain Phil Harris, Josh’s father. Phil was a no-nonsense straight shooting guy. When Deadliest Catch started out over a decade ago Phil was one of the early Captains doing events and boat shows, as a ‘what he called’ – I am here as a ‘personality.’ Seeing Phil on land in the Deadliest Catch early days doing promos at a Yachtie Boat Shows with palm trees and tall blonds that literally grow on trees, let’s just say he minded his manners, just fine for a crabber on land and in public, per usual a bit rough around the edges but not totally unmanageable for being around stiff upper lip white boat yachties! Fast forward years later, R.I.P Captain Phil Harris. God willing you’re proud of your son Josh and Casey McManus for doing a heck of a job on the crab grounds and summer salmon tendering.
Captain Josh Harris statements include, “The Cornelia Marie will not have a camera crew aboard season 13, of Deadliest Catch – this was not our decision. It was not made by the CM owners or the captains, it’s not a dispute over money, this was simply a decision by production and Discovery they have creative control pretty much over everything that errors on Deadliest Catch and we respect that.”
Harris goes on to say, “We are fishermen, we will be doing what we love and we will be doing what we love to do this king crab season – but we will be doing it alone. The film crew has been like a family to us and their absence will weigh heavy on our hearts; it has been a pleasure to take you (the viewers) on my journey as I have grown as a son, grandson, brother, father, a fishermen and a captain.”
Harris – “Your support has meant the world to me and it’s been quite a ride having all of you there right by my side, you have been with me through some of the best times of my life and there during the worst day of my life. I consider all of you part of my family and thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Harris – “Thanks again for the love and support and stay tuned….. Thank you to the world for watching me for the past decade. Peace and love to everybody.”
