F/T Defender, January 2016 getting a Fremont Tugboat Assist – off the Northwest dock at Fishermen’s Terminal in the Seattle Ship Canal. Defender was built by O’Hara Corporation, she’s was made for groundfish and redfish fishery off the coast of Maine in 1984. In 1998, Nichols Brothers Shipyard in Portland, Oregon refit her into a catcher processor, the big girl we see today. She was sponsoned, widened her beam by 10 feet and has a new deck and factory added and now fishes for groundfish in Alaska’s Bering Sea.
Happy New Year 2016!
God Bless Our NW & AK Fishermen!
