Fall Fishing just wrapped up in the Pacific Northwest, there was lots of action in the Seattle Ship Canal and Ballard Locks. Fishermen’s Terminal was jumping with activity. SE AK didn’t have the hottest or best season for SE Fishermen this past summer, this fall brings lots of fishermen to up their game back on their land jobs or – like a lot of seine boats who dock over at Fishermen’s Terminal, well it just means get back out on the water and go catching in the Puget Sound this fall.
The Puget Sound this fall is salt and peppered with Seine fishermen and their skiff man zipping around the Pacific Northwest either on the fish or chasing the fish this cold wet NW fall season. Weather to PNW fishermen is ‘no matter’ we just started to hit the 40’s which still isn’t cold, we have a few more weeks till a freeze might work its way in.
Fall fishing for seiners out of Fishermen’s Terminal means a long tradition supporting our NW to AK fishing fleets. The Port of Seattle does an excellent job putting the fishermen 1st. In slower seasons such as summer when most commercial boats are up in Alaska, at Fishermen’s Terminal they do allow summer moorage for yachts at the terminal. Come lat summer and into the fall season the yachts have to go and fishermen hit the lower 48 calling Fishermen’s Terminal home!
Seine fishermen on Adventurous and Rigorous stack their nets while they get a little break in the rain at Fishermen’s Terminal in the Seattle Ship Canal. These fishermen are young bucks to men in their 70’s still extra salty and full of piss and vinegar. November in the Ship Canal is never a dull moment with lots of marine traffic underway.
R&R rounding the corner into Fishermen’s Terminal, this seiner has been zipping up and down the canal all fall. Work it, own it, go get it PNW to SE AK Seiners! May all fall Pacific Northwest Seine fishermen crew be safe and swift on their feet and strong in the mind. Go Boating, Eat Fresh, Buy Wild!
