Survival Suit Races

3:00 pm – Survival Suite Races at the Fishermen’s Fall Festival is a great community event, it highlights the safety gear that’s used on the vessels of the “Deadliest Catch” on Discovery Channel.  Deadliest Catch is now in its 11th Season in 2015.

Survival Suite Races, each team has four people.  Anyone can race, even kids as long as they have a parent or guardian’s authorization.  It’s completely free to participate. Survival suits are provided. These suites are heavy and mobility is extremely difficult.  Each individual racer must start on the dock, get into a survival suit, jump into the water then swim 150 feet from the dock to the raft, when all members of the team, including their arms, legs, fingers and toes are in the survival raft, the time is called. The team with the fastest time WINS the Survival Suite Race Competition.   It’s a lot of fun for excited loud spectator’s dockside at Fishermen’s terminal on the west wall.
