Captain Sean Dwyer is a young pioneer at the helm. The Dwyer Family expands their fleet with the purchase of F/V Determined, she’s been newly named F/V Elinore J. Captain Sean may be young by age but in spirit he’s an old soul and one of the nicest crabbers you’ll ever meet; and that’s saying a lot – setting him on the nice side of the crabber trauft.

Formally known as the F/V Determined, now the F/V Elinore J. in the spring of 2019 is sitting over at Fishermen’s Terminal with her sister boat the Jennifer A. Spring in the Pacific Northwest means hurry up and gear the boat up for Alaska Tendering in the summer. By early summer of 2019 the F/V Elinore J. made her way from Seattle to Alaska for summer salmon tendering by Captain Zack Larson, also formally the F/V Brenna A. engineer – now turned captain.  Late last summer 2018 – below photo’s are:  F/V Brenna A. Captain Sean Dwyer and crew rolled into the Ballard Locks on an afternoon in late August this has been their per usual homecoming the past few years since they joined Deadliest Catch and Discovery. Captain Sean has many positive claims to fame, the brightest being getting the F/V Brenna A. crabbing up in the bering sea. The boat a family tender boat, they had her sister F/V Jennifer A. crabbing prior.

Some still ask what the the ‘PFD’ on the bow of boat, what does it stand for – the answer: it’s for Sean’s father Pat Ford Dwyer, Pat is a legend in the maritime industry on land and at sea. Pat lost his battle to ALS in 2013. It was a family dream to get the Brenna A. crabbing, this is for sure an answered prayer and family dream that has come true. Captain Sean takes the family business with an expanding direction by taking possession of the F/V Determined, also a Seattle Ship Canal staple a boat that has been around the canal for many seasons.

Well another crabber got hitched this past summer. Captain Sean Dwyer is officially married to a wonderful young woman, they tied the knot in September of 2018. Sorry ladies, Captain Sean is off the market, this wholesome guy was raised right by mama Jenny Dwyer and father Pat Dwyer, and yes Brenna A. is named after Sean’s sister.

Brenna A. will be at Fishermen’s Terminal her per usual homeport for about about month, late Aug. to late Sept. then she runs back up hill to the Bering Sea for another season of crabbing, hurricane season, high surf and massive wind gusts, rogue waves and record conditions that are for the toughest minds and bodies on earth.

The crew of the Brenna A. is no stranger to massive arctic hurricanes that shocks the fleet with high winds and big waves. In November the Bering Sea cyclone can be extremely powerful extratropical cyclones to affect Alaska breaking Alaska records. While most humans on earth would never go out to sea in such conditions, for Alaska Bering Sea crabbers its just another day at work, wrestling with waves and extreme weather conditions where mother nature never lets up.

Brenna A. by October she’s already back in the Bering Sea of Alaska after a short month at home in Seattle. King Crab kicks off Oct. 15th, pots are loaded and crews are pumped up to get on the herd. The Bering Sea is home of Red King Crab, this fishery runs middle October to about the middle of January depending on how fast their fearless captain finds the crab. Depending on the season boats fish Opilio, Bairdi, Cod and more…. lets just say crab boat are hitting is hard and home by either February or March. By spring these crab boats are in full shipyard, hurry up repair the boat mode, long days in the shipyard to get-er-done to run back up hill or over to keep the boat busy for summer salmon tendering.
