Opening Day Boating Season, Seattle Yacht Club
Seattle Yacht Club, Hosts Opening Day of boating Season. This years SYC 2016 Theme is: ‘A Great Escape’. Seattle has the largest opening day for boating season the USA. NW Lakes, Lake Union, Lake Washington and the Seattle Ship Canal are buzzing with yachts, superyachts, commercial vessels and yelling UW Crew coaches guiding their rowers the canal at the crack of dawn.
Saturday, May 7, 2016
- 7:30 a.m. – Complimentary coffee service and no-host continental breakfast in the Marine Room
- 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. “A Great Escape” Logo Wear available behind Front Desk.
- 8:35 a.m. – 1st Corps Army Band Brass Quintet Concert and Commissioning Ceremony on the lawn
- 9:40 a.m. – Montlake Cut closes to ALL boat traffic
- 10:20 – 11:40 a.m. – Windermere Cup Crew Races
- 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Parade of Boats in the Montlake Cut
- 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. – Junior Pizza Party – SYC Junior Room
- 6:00 p.m. – Trophy Presentation and Closing Ceremony on the lawn
- 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. – Special Buffet in the Marine Room
- 8:00 – 12:00 p.m. – Dancing and libations in the Heritage Room with the AIs. Everyone over 21 is welcome.

- 12:00 p.m. Mark Mayer Regatta – Noon Start on Lake Washington. Awards Ceremony and complimentary reception and beverages immediately following the end of the regatta. All Welcome !! FREE !
