Ranger Tug Ready to Go Underway in the Pacific NW

Ranger Tug was started in 1958 based on a philosophy of quality and ‘doing things right’ and the reputation they earned continues today. Owner John Livingston works with his father Dave daily, and John suggests Dave is probably the most accomplished boat designer in the world. Creator of thousands of models for various manufacturers, he can boast that more people have owned a boat that he built than any other designer in the world. Ranger Tugs concentrates on one model at a time from ideation through in-house design, testing, and manufacturing. In their shop, boats are put together by some of the most experienced boatbuilders in the Northwest. With an average of 15+ years in the business, their staff works hard to ensure that when you’re in a Ranger Tug, you’ll have fun on the water.

R–21EC Ranger Tug Boat Specs

Since its introduction, the Ranger R-21EC has earned a loyal following among enthusiasts who enjoy cruising at its classic best. And today it’s even better, with a boatload of improvements from greater interior volume and higher speed, to more responsive handling and convenient storage spaces.

Owners of this popular vessel have always measured fuel use in pints per hour, not gallons. With a refined hull design, the new Ranger R-21EC delivers significantly higher speeds and even better economy, bringing more cruise destinations within easy reach. And with a new cabin design that’s eighteen inches longer and seven inches wider, there’s room inside for pilot and companion seats, head, galley cabinet and a larger berth…greater comfort to make the trip all the more worthwhile.

R–25SC Ranger Tug Boat Specs

Real cruising is as much about the journey as the destination…and the Ranger R–25SC is all about both. The new R–25SC cockpit (aft deck) is 25% larger than their original R–25 giving it nearly 50 Square feet of aft deck space. Designed to provide maximum comfort and versatility in an easy-to-own, easy-to-operate trailerable mini-yacht, the R–25SC offers a full 8-½-foot beam for roomy on-deck areas and large interior spaces. Private compartments allow sleeping accommodations for up to five.

There’s an enclosed head with shower, sink and marine toilet, a helm with full instrumentation and an optional navigation package. The inviting galley includes a sink, stove and refrigerator. Large cabin windows and overhead skylight hatches help brighten the interior and offer a panoramic view all around. Available options allow customizing the Ranger R–25SC for comfortable year-round cruising and effortless operation. Yacht sized features like standard bow and stern thrusters provide for excellent maneuverability around the dock and the 8’6” beam allows the boat to be easily trailered.

R-27 Ranger Tug Boat Specs

Keeping with the tradition of offering a fully equipped trailerable boat, Ranger Tugs has once again hit the mark with the new Ranger R-27. The R-27 has nearly 50 Sq ft of aft deck space making the cockpit 25% larger than the original R-25. This allows for easy access to the standard 200 HP D3 Volvo diesel while keeping engine noise out of the cabin.

The well appointed cabin has a midship office with desk and chair, this space also converts to a berth that sleeps two. The dinette table is on a hydraulic piston that allows for an easy conversion to a berth or lounging area. The spacious front v-berth sleeps two adults and is over 6’5″ in length. Cooks will love the standard galley which includes a sink, refrigerator, inverter, microwave and a combination propane stove/oven. The marine head is standard with an electric flush toilet, glass vessel sink and shower.

R-29S Ranger Tug Boat Specs

The next generation of tug has arrived! The all new Ranger R-29S (sedan) is another masterpiece of innovation! The more modern styling features a curved front window and an overhead glass atrium that provides exceptional visibility from the helm station and salon area. An ingenious aft cockpit seating arrangement includes a reversible seat, port and starboard jump seats and a teak table for outside dining. The opening cabin bulkhead with reversible seat also provides additional cockpit seating while bringing the outside-in.

The new Ranger Tug 29S accommodates up to six adults on three separate berths, including the forward island berth with en-suite head. The R29S is powered by a fuel efficient 260 HP Volvo Inboard Diesel engine that is located completely outside of the cabin for quiet cruising. Standard stern and bow thrusters make docking exceptionally easy.

R-31 Ranger Tug Boat Specs

The R-31 shares many of the features and qualities of her smaller sisterships but some notable additions to this larger model make her ideal for extended cruising while still being a trailerable trawler. The R-31 is the first Ranger Tug to feature a flybridge equipped with electronic controls at both the upper and lower helm. The flybridge also retracts to allow for trailering the 31’. The builders at Ranger Tugs also equipped the foredeck with seating and a table that can be raised or lowered depending on whether the boat is under way or at anchor or dock for entertaining. In addition to the extra seating now available on the flybridge and foredeck the R-31 allows for a larger cockpit area with wraparound seating and extra seating that folds out of the gunwale. When not entertaining, seats are folded leaving the cockpit unencumbered.

The interior layout of the R-31 features two staterooms—one large island berth forward with en suite head and a midship berth and day head. Those who are familiar with Ranger Tugs models will recognize the galley layout and lower helm station that maximize interior space. A starboard side door provides easy access from the lower helm to the side decks so crew can get to the bow for line handling.

The R-31S shares many of the features and qualities of her smaller sisterships but some notable additions to this larger model make her ideal for extended cruising while still being a trailerable trawler. The builders at Ranger Tugs equipped the foredeck with seating and a table that can be raised or lowered depending on whether the boat is under way or at anchor or dock for entertaining. In addition to the foredeck seating, the R-31 boasts a larger cockpit area with wraparound seating utilizing seats that fold out of the gunwale. When not entertaining, seats are folded leaving the cockpit unencumbered.

Like all Ranger Tugs, the new R-31S comes essentially turnkey with standard features and equipment intended to make her owner’s experience hassle-free and allow for ease of handling and comfort under way. Standard equipment includes bow and stern thrusters, an optional aft steering station and a Volvo D4 300hp engine that achieves a 16 knot cruise speed.

Designed to provide maximum comfort and versatility in an easy-to-own, easy-to-operate trailerable mini-yacht, the R25 offers a full 8-½-foot beam for roomy on-deck areas and large interior spaces.
