Golden Alaska Seafoods, Golden Alaska is a 305 ft, 3706 gross ton processing vessel that operates in the Bering Sea and off the Aleutian Chain, and the North Pacific Ocean. Back in the spring and late summer at the cusp of winter; here for a bit then back for the winter holidays till mid January departure after the new year; they’ll touch and go – come home and depart WA Ship Canal from their per usual Ballard homeport, then return in December until mid January, their homeport dock formally known as the old Western Pioneer dock, now Alaska Ship Supply – they just moved their office on the south side of the canal. Golden Alaska usually comes and goes in the canal with a late night evening assist by two Western Towboats, depending on coming or going; she’ll make her way down to the Ballard Locks for many drops and lifts, they run uphill and downhill run back to the Bering Sea and the Pacific Northwest of Seattle, lots of trips underway in the Pacific Northwest.
Golden Alaska operates under the mothership concept and is supplied with fish by six catcher boats. Golden Alaska produces Fillet Blocks, H&G, Mince, Surimi, Pollock Roe and Fishmeal; products are frozen at sea and off-loaded into freezer containers in port, per usual is Dutch Harbor, Alaska or Seattle, Washington.

M/V Golden Alaska, more fun facts about their million dollar seafood operation, – she has has the equipment to turn fish waste into fishmeal and fish oil. Fishmeal has many uses, the main one being food for aquaculture farming. Fish oil is also extracted from the fish waste and is burned in ship’s boilers.
