As M/Y Atasca was running down south then eastbound to Seattle WA Ship Canal, they passed M/Y Mine Games, 203 ft. Itasca has a unique history to from her build and original sea going purpose to her past and current refits, she had a few shaves and modern day superyacht haircuts. M/Y Itasca was built by J & K Smits Scheepswerven in The Netherlands as an ocean-going salvage tug. Formerly she was named THAMES III, she is one of three sisterships built, as of today August 2017 – only ‘ITASCA’  is still in existence. By origin she was a tug, Itasca was in commercial service until 1979, she was then converted to a luxury superyacht where she has since been exploration yachting history by circumnavigated the world three times, including being one of the first yachts to pass through the Northwest Passage when owned by the former US Secretary of the Treasury, William E Simon. Not many superyachts today have this voyaging track record of sea time and stories to tell from experience.
