Floating homes are one of the truly unique habitats in the Pacific Northwest.  Seattle has one of the largest communities of modern floating homes in the world. Floating homes aren’t boats – although they are often affectionately called ‘houseboats’. They are just like any other land built house except that they are floating on the water. Of course there are a few differences, such as sewer, tanks, and electrical capacity differences depending on where the home is moored.

Seattle’s floating homes are permanently moored on property along the shore, these fantastic floating communities are very unique to the NW with helpful neighbors, immense pride in taking care of our water ways, lakes and bays and a great connections and appreciate for mother natures beauty and creations.

Sterling Marine is also known for extensive construction projects on federal, state and private levels.  They offer a range of marine construction services such as, marine facilities, floating docks and marina’s, outfalls, sewer facilities, piers, pilings, moorage and anchor sets and maintenance as well as shipyard underwater diving services.

This Seattle based specific dive company is noted for usage of state of the art mooring system designs and components, featuring unsurpassed holding power.  One system is the helix anchor.   A large screw style anchor which is driven into the sea floor.  This system minimizes impact on the sea floor by reducing the dead area surrounding the anchor.  The dead weight system is the alternative.  it is used when the helix mooring system will not suffice. This highly skilled team of divers design is able to provide an extreme amount of holding power and cut the harmful impact to the sea floor that many dead weight systems create.
