F/T Alaska Spirit, O’Hara Corporation, 204 ft. getting a westbound ship canal assist by Western Towboats, a Ballard Bridge lift then heading over to land on the hip of the NW dock at Fishermen’s Terminal. Fishermen’s Terminal is a fall and winter hot spot for factory trawlers, lots of work to be done to get the boat ready to run back uphill. Alaska Spirit got a new shipyard shave and a haircut, the new paint job is looking good this November 2017, fall season in the Pacific Northwest.

Alaska Spirit was built in 1974, she’s 204ft/62m and fishes for Atka mackerel, Pacific Ocean perch, yellowfin sole, rock sole, pollock, cod, among other species in Alaska. O’Hara purchased the Alaska Spirit from the Fishing Company of Alaska in 2017, she’s brand new to the O’Hara factory trawler fleet of ships. Alaska Spirit was originally built for tuna as a longline vessel, the Alaska Spirit was converted to a factory trawler in the 1990’s, her new look is a ship canal show stopper.

F/T Alaska Spirit join the fleet with – F/T Araho, F/T Defender, F/T Constellation, F/T Enterprise – Hitting the sea running: O’Hara Corporation purchased over half the quota shares and also the catcher processor vessel Alaska Spirit from the Fishing Company of Alaska (FCA). Ocean Peace of Seattle will purchase the remaining shares along with the catcher processor vessels Alaska Warrior and Alaska Victory. Good Luck Alaska Spirit!

O’Hara Corporation Purchases FCA Quotas and F/T Alaska Spirit in 2017: The new quota shares will offer diversification into species O’Hara Corp. did not have prior to completion of the deal. They can currently catch flounders, sole, cod, and pollock, the new quotas will allow us to target species like Atka Mackerel, Pacific Ocean Perch, and other rockfishes. This is a changing positive product market.
