Brenna A, Captain Sean Dwyer and crew usually return to the lower 48 WA Ship Canal in Seattle after their crab fishing season and summer salmon tender season that lands them in the Ballard Locks the end of summer to hit the canal for shipyard work, new paint jobs and typical needed repairs after the boat got beat to heck in Alaska waters and snotty seas.

Brenna A, Sean Dwyer and Dwyer family have come a long way since landing on Deadliest Catch a few seasons back. The bow of the F/V Brenna A. reads ‘PFD’ for Pat Ford Dwyer, Captain Sean’s father; Pat lost his battle to ALS in June of 2013; it was a rough battle to a horrible disease, back in 2012, Sean said to me while standing on the deck of Brenna A, “My Dad’s ALS is a death sentence.” The Dwyer family has really paid it forward to honor Pat and his legacy to the boat’s F/V Jennifer A. and F/V Brenna A. not to mention all their fantastic exposure and fundraising for ALS and the many people with this disease to aid the sick and caregivers and loved ones families. It’s a blessing the Dwyer family has been able to do so much for ALS, and the platform of Discovery and Deadliest Catch – AMEN!

Brenna A. Deadliest Catch Discovery is in season 14. The boats scuttlebutt: Not long after Pat Dwyer’s ALS diagnosis, Jenny (Mom) and Pat (Dad) acquired the F/V Shishaldin, later naming her F/V Brenna A after Sean’s younger sister Brenna Adele. Pat taught son Sean all he knew about the boats and fishing; in 2013 Pat lost his 8 year battle with ALS just a few short months shy of seeing his dream of the F/V Brenna A crabbing in the Bering Sea – from heaven Pat can see his son Sean made is happen!

RIP PFD!

F/V Brenna A. went dry in the shipyard, she got lined up to cruise up on the ways on a late summer wet afternoon, Seattle summers are usually dry with a good grip of sun, the last summer of 2017 was snotty and wet not the Pacific Northwest summer per usual.
